Riveting a Custom Aluminum Toolbox - Reckless Wrench Garage
Переглядів 2,6 тис.4 місяці тому
I wanted to have a made-to-fit tool box that fit in the dead space of the tubework. I designed a box on fusion 360 and then had it cut and bent. I used solid rivets and assembled all the pieces together. The hinge is a stainless piano hinge and the latches are flush mount aircraft latches. F-250 Solid Axle Swap - Reckless Wrench Garage
Переглядів 4,7 тис.4 місяці тому
This was the easiest solid axle swap I have done! I swapped in a 1994 Ford Dana 60 from a F-350 into my 1996 F-250. All that was required was in unbolting the twin traction beam suspension, and bolting in the F-350 suspension components. I used a shackle reversal crossmember from Sky's offroad to get a better riding suspension during the process, but it is not necessary. Tubing Bender & Notcher...

Boatsides for the Stuburban - Reckless Wrench Garage
Переглядів 2,6 тис.8 місяців тому
On this episode, we go back to April '22 when Kris took some cutting tools to the Stuburban's rockers with extreme prejudice. We're ditching the low hanging sliders for some stronger and higher clearance sliders that resulted in a slight boatside action. In total, the Stuburban gained 7.5” of clearance at the rockers, measuring (before and after) from the body line to the bottom of the sliders....

    I can get one 40' X 60 feet here in Florida just as nice if not better, for $23,000 assembled out the door........ Yes, it may be cookie cutter, but if I like the building, then it's what I can use. The interior spray foam and concrete floor is separate of course......... So , maybe $30,000 completed....

    Why'd you put the slab in after the structure? Seems like that would raise the difficulty of almost everything but especially of the slab work versus putting that slab in up front.

    • @Franklin-pc3xd
      @Franklin-pc3xd 25 днів тому

      @@RecklessWrenchGarage I don't have to since I already know and it's not germaine to the question. Just because post frame-in allows the slab to go in secondarily - or because it doesn't require a slab - doesn't mean that's the best way to go when you are definitely going to have a slab when you first put the building to use. So, again, why did you decide to put the slab in after the structure?

    I see you went from 3 leafs to 2 leafs. I'll be doing the same, a 'custom' 3 leaf like yours back to 2 leafs with the RSK kit. My question, how did that effect the lift? Just from what i can see it looks like about a 2" lift from before to after, or did you do something else to the ride height?

    • @RecklessWrenchGarage
      @RecklessWrenchGarage 2 місяці тому

      I got 2 inches of lift from the RSK. The leaf springs don't change the loft amount since I went from stock TTB springs to the stock f350 solid axle springs that the kit is designed to use

    Looks like a lot of wasted wood on the stairs. Any reason why you put in vertical boards on the stairs instead of just putting in the horizontal steps only? The vertical boards for each step don't do anything as afar as I can tell, except for waste wood.

    Would you be willing to say which company you used to build the actual structure? Was it a well known national company, or a local company in your area? Do you think the 2" thick insulation would be enough if I wanted to make part of it as my home and the other part as my shop? Was it a pain dealing with the local county building code enforcement and paperwork by being your own contractor? The last thing I want to ask is did you have the money saved or paid as you went or were you able to get a loan from a bank?. This is an excellent video by the way. I like the details you added, like the rat guard. Thank you.

      I used wolf barns and they are in Oklahoma and Texas. I don't have any codes or permits living in Texas to deal with. 2 inch thick minimum insulation was recommended for a conditioned living area This was with my own money I saved for a long time. Personal loans are an option as well for something on this budget.

    I’m building a square body suburban. I know Chevy stuff but I just went down the ford rabbit hole recently. So I’m probably gonna go and get me a high pinion 44 and buy a 9 inch housing off summit for the rear. I never knew anything about high pinions but now that I do I wanna do high pinions front and back on my burb just because there’s so much you can do with these and how easy they are to build. I wanna do a Jana D50 in the front and a hi 9 in the rear. I’m assuming I can stick on a 14 bolt flange on the rear and run a full float axle shaft in the back. My burb isn’t a rock crawler I’m just building a overlander and intend to lift it little and stuff 35’s/37’s on it. The parts and modular design for these axles are crazy and I think they’ll be the perfect first dabble in fabrication/axle setup.

    In Ravalli county Montana a 30' x 40' X 10' pole barn with inside 4" slab, one 16' x 8' garage door, 3' one man door, one 4' window, no vapor barrier is $40,500.00. This price did not include the dirt work, that was an additional $3,500.00 and had to find my own contractor for this. I had to cut into uphill side, about 6' cut on high side then slope and drainage ditches and was left with flat gravel pad. This would class as a basic build.

    Nice job, thank you. I enjoy looking in on home made welding table videos. Mine is not the peak of welding table flatness or size or rigidity. But with the gift of an old steel-framed computer table from a school I had the basis I needed, it’s 2 feet x 4feet. I got a 3mm plate to fit it, laser cut to 18mm holes on 50mm hole-centres and it does for me. If I had to drill my own holes or I did the job again I think I’d choose 100mm centres (4 inch centres) because 50mm/2 inch centres mean a lot of holes and they must weaken any thinner plate and make it more likely to flex, and droop a bit in the middle. But as you say, DIY and save some dosh! Thanks again, Les
